Kayak Fishing For Huge Trophies
If you have been out
ocean kayak fishing lately, you know that it isn’t an easy task. It is very rewarding though. The big fish live out in those waters, and to get them, you either need a big gas guzzling boat, or a few buddies with rigged
fishing kayaks. Here are a few tips to help you out along your way.
1) When you are ocean kayak fishing, remember to tell someone your planned route before you leave. Estimate your arrival time to your fishing destination, and about how long you will be fishing. Also tell them about what time to be expecting you back. Make sure you cover this in great detail.
2) Bring a lot of water. Fishing out on the ocean is a lot different than kayak fishing on a lake or river. The sun and salt will tear you up. Make sure you have plenty of water, and small snacks. Don’t take a 3 foot hoagie, and expect to paddle back. I prefer lunchables and bottled water by the 12 pack.
3) Carry 2 way radios while you are out on the big lake. Making sure you have a few buddies with you is a given, but carrying two way radios are great if you get a fish hooked up each, and they take you seperate directions.
4) Talking about two way radios, one other accessory that you must have for ocean kayak fishing, is a gps. If you don’t have one, you could be in great trouble one day. A lot of people are good at plotting, and using a compass, but I just have to have a backup. An electronic GPS does this for me.
